Psychometric properties of a Persian version of respectful maternity care questionnaire

Abstract Background Providing high quality and respectful care during pregnancy birth is one of the ways to reduce complications in women. Respectful a type that requires valid instrument measure. This study was conducted determine validity reliability Persian version Maternity Care (RMC) questionnaire 2018. Methods performed with 150 women (in first 48 h after birth), who were admitted postpartum wards public hospitals from 1st January until 6th April 2018 Zanjan city Iran. Participants selected randomly using Poisson distribution (Time) sampling method. After receiving permission questionnaire’s author, internal consistency tool measured by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient Forward translation under expert supervision. The modified assessed test-retest method 10 eligible women, completed same again 72 h. confirmed exploratory confirmatory factor analysis LISREL SPSS software. Results original RMC achieved an overall (α = 0.839). Confirmatory scores demonstrated poor fit indices. In proposed paths for model, item excluded re-exploratory remaining 14 items. Four new subscales defined revised including Abusive Care, Effective Friendly Communication, which explained 60% variance. Conclusions included four Communication items Given importance providing maternity care, variety cultures services across different countries, further research needed on this evaluate its use other countries regions.
